Sedgman Worldwide

Sedgman has a world-class reputation arising from its proven capability to successfully deliver within its market sectors.  The company is global in scope, localised in operation, and able to draw on the engineering design, construction and operations experience gained from projects undertaken in many of the major and developing mining regions in the world.

Sedgman has expanded into three international regions: Africa, The Americas and Asia.  As the company's global footprint matures, the focus is to grow sustainable businesses in each of these regions. Consistent with the its Business Model, Sedgman currently works on coal and metalliferous projects in all of these regions, and is actively pursuing new operations opportunities.

In 2005, Sedgman opened an office in Santiago, Chile which is the regional centre for the company in The Americas. From here, Sedgman services coal and metalliferous clients across a vast geographic territory stretching from Alaska (USA) through to Tierra del Fuega (Chile/Argentina).  The Americas region has been identified as a key area for growth as part of Sedgman's international expansion strategy.

Sedgman's acquisition of Intermet in July 2007 immediately exposed the company to the international metals market. Sedgman targets both greenfields and brownfields projects in the main metals provinces in Australia, Southern Africa, Asia and South America.

Sedgman's Beijing office was opened in 2008 to facilitate the company's re-entry to the Chinese and Asian market.  The Beijing office was established to secure coal projects that support China's industrialisation, targeting emerging coking coal mines, particularly in Mongolia, and to provide a base for the company's Asian procurement hub.

Sedgman's international expansion flourished in 2008 with the signing of a contract with Brazilian iron ore giant, Vale, to provide design services on the multi-billion dollar Moatize coal project in northern Mozambique. This project has the potential to be one of Africa's biggest coal mines, and represents the first significant step in Sedgman's global coal expansion.

In 2010, Sedgman opened an office in South Africa, which is located in Centurion. This office is Sedgman's project execution hub for engineering, procurement, construction and operatoins across the African continenent, and in particular the Southern African region.

With the resources boom forecast to continue, Sedgman is facilitating continued growth across the global resources industry in coal, metals, iron ore and infrastructure.
