Sedgman Worldwide

Sedgman Limited has a strong international focus. In addition to Australia, the company has undertaken numerous projects across the South Pacific, Asia, Africa and South America.

In 2005, Sedgman opened an office in Santiago, Chile. The office forms part of the Engineering Services business unit and was established to supplement the design resources in materials handling, structural and electrical design in Australia. Sedgman continues to evaluate business partners in Southern Africa, China and India.

The company's international expansion crystalised in 2008 with the signing of a contract with Brazilian iron ore giant Vale to provide design services on the multi-billion dollar Moatize coal project in northern Mozambique. This project has the potential to be one of Africa's biggest coal mines and represents the first significant step in Sedgman's global coal expansion.

In China, a Sedgman office was opened in 2008 displaying our commitment to this region. The coal opportunities in this fast-growing economy are substantial.

Sedgman's acquisition of Intermet in July 2007 immediately exposed the company to the international metals market. Intermet is leveraged to both greenfields and brownfields projects in the main metals provinces in Australia, Africa, Asia and South America.

The resources boom is forecast to continue and Sedgman is confident of continued growth across the global resources industry in both coal and metals.
