Project Profile: Lake Vermont Mine
Project Start Date: 3rd Quarter 2008 (Q1 FY 2009)
Project Finish Date: 1st Quarter 2009 (Q3 FY 2009)
Plant Description
- 5.6Mt/a ROM(as)
- 800t/h two stage size reduction system(as)
- 800t/h raw coal processing plant(as)
- Reclaim and load trains at 4250t/h(nom)
- Coarse rejects and tailings co-disposal system
Client Need
Design, construct and commission a coal handling and preparation plant to process coal from a resource of 103 million tonnes in the Bowen Basin at Lake Vermont approximately 15 km northeast of Dysart
Solution
A CHPP design that:
- Produces saleable coal with the following target specifications:
- Coking Coal: 7.5% ash (ad), 11.5% moisture as shipped;
- PCI Coal: 9.8% ash (ad) at not greater than 8.5% total moisture (as);
- Minimises fines generation and required manning levels.
- Is robust for its 20 year design life, is safe and easily maintainable.
Outcome
- The Lake Vermont CHPP was designed, constructed and commissioned within the required project timeframe and budget.
- The commissioning phase was completed ahead of schedule and despite the very tight time frame was completed without an isolation incident.
- The CHPP project reached Practical completion 2 weeks ahead of schedule and since has passed the 14 day throughput trial component of the CHPP Performance Test.
